Ajmal Mughal was born in 1958 in GujarKhan near Islamabad (Pakistan). His grandfather Ustad Allah Ditta was a well known Folk Singer of Punjab and Pathohar. Ajmal started getting his basic music education from his uncle Ustad Karam Ellahi Khan at the age of 10years. He further got music training from Ustad Ishfak Khan and Ustad Manzoor Hussain Khan. Ajmal got intermediate certificate in music in 1975 and then in 1977 got a BA degree in music (Sitar) from Punjab University Pakistan. Ajmal says that he learnt a lot of techniques from one of the best Sitar player of Pakistan Ustad Fateh Ali Khan by listening and watching him face to face on radio station Rawalpindi.  
     
 

In 1985 Ajmal Mughal moved to Paris and after sometime he met Shree Govinda Batajo a very senior student of Pandit Ravi Shanker. Then he further developed his skills with his guru Govinda Batajo. In 1990 Ajmal moved to United Kingdom, since then he is performing and serving the local community with his music.
